An emergency in the workplace in never a good thing and although false alarms are common, it’s absolutely essential that members of staff go through all the motions of your fire safety procedure. Of course, that means leaving a few things behind. So what are the most difficult things to part with when the fire alarms start ringing?
Your phone
It’s hard to live without your mobile these days, but a phone full of messages and contacts isn’t worth the risk of delaying your escape from a burning office.
Your lunch
Why waste a perfectly good sandwich or last night’s pasta in the office fridge? Granted it’s a shame to leave your lunch behind but a few tummy rumbles are better than a few nights in hospital.
Your bag
Keys, wallet, books, belongings – they’re all likely to be in your bag when you’re at work. Put them out of your mind when the alarms start ringing. Your only priority is to get out of the building.
Your clothes
You might have a coat on a hook somewhere in the office but it’ll be no good to you if you meet a raging inferno.
Your mascot
People have all sorts of mascots on their desks at work. Unfortunately, you have to condemn them to go up in flames to save your own skin in an emergency.
