We’re all familiar with CCTV. These days CCTV security systems are common, but this is just testament to their success. A lot is made of the statistics associated with how often people appear on closed circuit television systems during the course of a day in an urban environment, but these are systems that are used for a very specific purpose – to protect properties and bring criminals to justice.
Protecting properties is often a matter of putting criminals off the scent. A well-guarded place of work is likely to present more of a challenge to would-be burglars or vandals and CCTV increases the chances of people being caught after the event. That’s not something too many criminals would risk.
Bringing criminals to justice is a case of having solid evidence against them and that is something that commercial CCTV systems have the power to do. They are capable of providing good quality images when they monitor properties and premises which assist police when they investigate should a break-in ever be staged.
CCTV is not used in any more sinister capacity than to give business owners the chance to protect themselves, their staff and their assets.
